Online Peer Support Group
Why peer support?
'Support groups bring together people who are going through or have gone through similar experiences'
ESAS are here to provide a culturally sensitive - safe space for East and Southeast Asians in Scotland and UK. We also do not charge for this service.
Some of the benefits of peer support groups:
Realising you are not alone
It's comforting to be in a safe hold where others can validate and show solidarity with your lived experiences.
Expressing your feelings
Sharing your feelings and experiences with the group can be a very therapeutic and healing experience, particularly as you find that others in the group will listen nonjudgmentally and empathetically. It is important to be heard.
Learning helpful information
Support groups offer lots of practical tips and you can learn healthy coping methods from others.
What to expect at the peer support group meeting?
A safe, relaxing and regulated environment.
All meetings will be conducted through ZOOM.
You do not have to talk if you do not want to.
You can leave when and come back if you need space.
Some sessions may offer educational opportunities, such as a guest doctor, psychologist or social worker to talk about a topic related to the group's needs. But this will be discussed and agreed upon beforehand.
All sessions are confidential.
